WHNT News 19 in Huntsville Wins Best of Broadcasting Honors from the Alabama Broadcasters Association

WHNT News 19 was honored with two Best in Broadcasting Awards and a Judges’ Award of Merit during the Alabama Broadcasters Association ABBY Awards.

“Pay It Forward” received a Best in Broadcasting Franchise award. “Pay It Forward” is fronted by news anchor Clarissa McClain. The franchise celebrates individuals and groups who take action to help people in the Tennessee Valley. Every week an honoree receives a Pay It Forward award of $319 to continue their good works.

The Best in Broadcasting Documentary award went to “#Virtues”. The documentary focuses on teaching students social media responsibility. The program helps parents connect with their children about social media and cyber-bulling.   The documentary was produced through a partnership with Leadership Huntsville/Madison County Connect Class 16.

“The Lost Bible” received a Judges’ Award of Merit in the series category. “The Lost Bible” followed the story of a family Bible found in North Carolina. WHNT shared the story and clues found inside with viewers asking them take action to help find the rightful owners. They did. “The Lost Bible” was a series of four stories and ended with the Bible’s homecoming to its family in Pennsylvania.

The Alabama Association of Broadcasters ABBY awards recognized the best in broadcasting for both radio and television stations.
