NOMINATED FOR BEST OVERALL BRAND PRESENCE
AND BEST USE OF FACEBOOK ADVERTISING

WGN America, Tribune Broadcasting’s nationally distributed cable, satellite and telco network, has been named a finalist for two Shorty Awards. The Shorty Awards honor the best in social media; recognizing the people and organizations producing real-time short content across Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, YouTube, Foursquare and the rest of the social web.

WGN America’s How I Met Your Mother themed Facebook page (“YourMother”) is a finalist in two Shorty Award categories:

Best Overall Brand Presence on Facebook
WGN America “How I Met Your Mother” Facebook Campaign

Best Use of Facebook Advertising
WGN America “How I Met Your Mother” Facebook Campaign

WGN America’s How I Met Your Mother social media campaigns successfully grew ratings and raised awareness using engaging content focused on empowering the show’s most loyal fans (“SuperFans,”) which helped the content spread to the traditional and casual fans.

Earlier this year, WGN America’s How I Met Your Mother themed Facebook surpassed 2 million fans (that’s more fans than the network pages of AMC, TBS, FX and Bravo…COMBINED) and features a more engaged audience (per Facebook’s “People Talking About This” metric) than shows like Mad Men, Breaking Bad and Two And A Half Men in first run. WGN America’s How I Met Your Mother themed Twitter entity “@MeetAtMaclarens” has nearly 107K followers, surpassing the network followers for TNT, AMC, FX and TBS.

As part of WGN America’s social media strategy, the network partnered with Story Worldwide, a global content marketing agency, to help create and curate the ideal fan experience and drive tune-in to WGN America on air.

The 5th Annual Shorty Awards ceremony will be held on April 8th at the Times Center in New York.
