FOX40 Sacramento November Telethon for Wildfire Victims in Northern California Raises $336,000

Funds Raised Benefit the Salvation Army Del Oro Division

Sacramento, CA – December 4, 2018 – KTXL FOX 40, Tribune Broadcasting’s Sacramento television station, today announced its telethon raised a total of $336,000 to support those affected by the Camp Fire wildfires in Northern California.

FOX40 hosted a one-day telethon on-air and online on November 15, with all donations raised going directly to The Salvation Army California Del Oro Division to help with the Northern California wildfire recovery effort. Through thousands of small donations, FOX40 was able to raise $316,000 for residents affected by the Camp Fire in one day.  As part of the fundraising effort, the Tribune Media Company Charitable Foundation donated $20,000 to The Salvation Army.

“Serving our local community is a major focus for all of us at FOX40, in fact, it is our duty, and we are so proud to be the conduit for the community to come together and support those who have lost everything in this horrible fire,” said Leigh White, VP and General Manager, FOX40.

“We want to thank the FOX40 viewers for their generosity and support towards our Camp Fire relief efforts,” said Major Ivan Wild, Salvation Army Divisional Commander for the Del Oro Division.  “Time and time again, this region has shown a great heart to give back, whether in their own community or for other parts of this state.  We know the funds will absolutely help with the long-term recovery in Butte County.”
