Channel 13 News Earns Emmys for Best Sports/Weather Anchor and Best News Anchor

Veteran Sports Director Keith Murphy earns 7th Emmy; News Anchor Dan Winter earns his 4th

WHO-HD took home two of the most- coveted Emmy awards for journalism excellence this past Saturday night. Sports Director Keith Murphy won in the category of Sports/Weather Anchor and Dan Winters earned Best News Anchor honors for the second consecutive year. This brings Murphy’s lifetime Emmy count in sports anchoring and reporting to 7 and Winters’ to 4. The awards were handed out Saturday night in Bloomington, MN by the Upper Midwest Chapter of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

The Upper Midwest Chapter of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is a membership organization dedicated to excellence in television and each year honors exceptional work of television professionals covering  Iowa (except for Quad Cities), Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, western Wisconsin and northeast Nebraska.

“The categories of “On-Camera Talent-Anchor-News” and “On-Camera Talent-Anchor-Weather/Sports” are coveted in that they examine an entire body of work versus a single story or newscast,” said WHO-HD News Director Rod Peterson. “Inside our building and among many in central Iowa, we enjoy the special talents Keith Murphy and Dan Winters every day. Now, a jury of peers from across the country affirms just how talented these two individuals are.”
