10 Dec WGN Morning News Names New Leaders
Aline Cox has been named WGN Morning News Executive Producer for the entire six hour show effective immediately, as announced by Jennifer Lyons, WGN-TV News Director. “Aline has been with the Morning News for five years and is a proven winner. She has terrific news judgment and is ready to lead as the next EP of WGN Morning News.”
An 11-year veteran of WGN News, Ms. Cox has worked in a variety of capacities at Chicago’s Very Own. In 2011, she became managing producer of the WGN Morning News. As the show continued to expand so did Cox’s responsibilities, becoming executive producer from 4-6am. Prior to her WGN Morning News duties, she spent five years at CLTV in various producer positions and as a news writer for the station. Prior to working in Chicago, Ms. Cox spent several years in Madison, Wisconsin as a sports reporter/producer and executive producer for WMTV-TV and as sports producer/photographer at WKOW-TV. Cox received her BA in Journalism from University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Cox is replacing Sandy Pudar who was recently elevated to WGN News assistant news director. Replacing Cox as executive producer of WGN Morning News from 4-6am is producer Mike Wilder. Wilder has been part of WGN Morning News for 10 years and has produced nearly every hour of the program. Prior to WGN-TV, Wilder worked at FOX Chicago and in other television markets including; Indianapolis, Grand Rapids and Springfield.
