In this Olympics month, WGN Morning News 6a-9a, swept the competition ranking first in Households, Adults 18-49, and Adults 25-54 by solid margins.

On September 6, 1994, WGN-TV launched WGN Morning News from 7-8am. In January 1996, the show expanded to two hours and eight months later, expanded again to 6-9am. In January 2001, the show launched an early edition at 5:30am, and then three years later, in January 2004, expanded to begin at 5am. In August 2010, WGN Morning News began a half-hour earlier at 4:30am. As of July 2011, it started at 4am. In September 2013, the show added the 9-10am hour, airing for six total hours from 4-10am. On September 6, 2014, WGN Morning News will celebrate its 20th anniversary.
