PIX11 Wins New York State Broadcasters Award – “Boston Bombing- Inside the Frozen Zone” Wins Best Spot News

PIX11, Tribune Broadcasting’s New York flagship station, has been honored by the New York State Broadcasters Association (NYSBA) with an Award for Best Spot News at the NYSBA’s summer conference ceremony at the Waldorf Astoria, in Manhattan last night.

PIX11 reporter James Ford and photographers Kenton Young and Ken Pelczar were honored for their work “Boston Bombing- Inside the Frozen Zone,” coverage of last year’s Boston Marathon bombing and the manhunt for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

“PIX11 is honored to have our work recognized by the NYSBA. In addition to the NYS Broadcasters Award, PIX11 News has recently received several prestigious awards, a reflection of the station’s hard work, in-depth reporting and our commitment to our audience as we were honored with Emmy, Edward R. Murrow, NY Press Club and Associated Press Awards this year,” said Rich Graziano, President/GM, PIX11.

Founded in 1955, the New York State Broadcasters Association (NYSBA) offers a variety of services to help the broadcasters of New York State better serve their communities; NYSBA also represents the interests of television and radio stations before the NYS Senate and Assembly, the US Congress, and various other legislative bodies.

Additionally, PIX11 is pleased to announce Marvin Scott was honored today with an induction into the New York State Broadcasters Association (NYSBA) Hall of Fame for his 50 year career in journalism. The NYSBA established the Hall of Fame in 2005 to honor the elite of New York State broadcasting.
