PIX11 Returns to Puerto Rico, Coverage Begins Tuesday, October 17
October 14, 2017 – PIX11, Tribune Broadcasting’s New York flagship station, is pleased to announce the station has partnered with Jorge and Laura Posada’s Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief Fund to help bring aid to the residents of Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.
The Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief Fund is a non-profit organization established by the New York Yankees’ All-Star Catcher, Jorge Posada, and his wife, Laura. Since Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico, the Posadas have raised more than $330,000 for hurricane relief.
PIX11 will be partnering with the foundation, documenting its next relief trip to Puerto Rico as they send a plane filled with supplies to the devastated island. The foundation will then transport dozens of people back to the mainland who desperately need medical attention. This will be the foundation’s fifth relief flight from Puerto Rico.
The Posada’s sat down with PIX11’s Morning News Anchor Dan Mannarino for an exclusive interview about their mission to help those those who desperately need aid.
“I saw it with my own eyes. They need to be able to buy ice, water and gas. There was nothing, none of the above. We are trying to provide that help.” – Jorge Posada
“I have done nothing else for the past three weeks. I’m not a celebrity, I’m not an athlete, I’m a Puerto Rican woman, a Puerto Rican mom that knows we need to do something to get those people to survive.” – Laura Posada
The Posadas have a special message for New York:
“Tell the people of New York don’t lose hope, keep fighting, we are fighters Puerto Ricans are fighters…but we need more, we need people to keep stepping up to the plate”
PIX11’s coverage from Puerto Rico begins Tuesday, October 17th.
