PIX11 News Names Marissa Torres Traffic Anchor

October 11, 2016 – PIX11, Tribune Broadcasting’s New York flagship station, has named Marissa Torres the Traffic Anchor for PIX11 News. Torres will deliver traffic reports for PIX11 Morning News as well as newscasts in other dayparts during breaking news events affecting traffic.  Torres will report to Amy Waldman, PIX11 News Director.

Torres, who has been working at PIX11 since 2014 as the fill-in Traffic Anchor, has been named permanently to the position, effective immediately.  She joined PIX11 in 2014 from KOAA in Colorado Springs, where she was the station’s Morning News Anchor.

“Marissa has proven to be a key player in the morning, delivering up to date information to our viewers as they trying to get out the door,” said Waldman. “She’s a big part of the team and I’m excited to see her continue to grow in this role.”

Torres began her career on air in 2008 as a reporter in Central Illinois for WCIA 3 News, the CBS affiliate.  She spent three years in the Springfield and Champaign-Urbana Newsrooms as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor. She also served as a reporter at KOB-TV in Albuquerque.

“PIX11 has been my home for the past two years and I couldn’t be more excited to take on this new role. I love being able to start each morning with PIX11’s incredible viewers and look forward to being their source for weekday traffic reports, “ said Torres.

Born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Torres holds a bachelor’s degree from The University of Michigan and Master’s degree in broadcast journalism from The Newhouse School at Syracuse University.
