14 Apr PIX11 News Names Chuck Carter Managing Editor
PIX11, Tribune Broadcasting’s New York CW affiliate, has named Chuck Carter Managing Editor, PIX11 News. Carter was most recently Assistant News Director at Tribune’s WTIC FOX 61 in Hartford, CT. A native of East Harlem, he joins PIX11 on April 28 and will report to Mark Effron, PIX11 Vice President/News Director.
As Managing Editor, Carter will be responsible for overseeing the station’s news coverage, Assignment Desk and all specialty units.
Prior to his role at WTIC, Carter served as the Assistant News Director/Executive Producer for WRNN-TV/Verizon FiOS One News in New York, Assistant News Director for KRIV-TV in Houston, TX, News Director for the Tribune owned WPHL in Philadelphia, PA, and the Executive Producer/Special Projects Producer for WJXX in Jacksonville, FL.
“Chuck is a seasoned broadcast news executive with a proven record of delivering ratings growth. I’m thrilled he is joining our team as we continue to develop PIX11 News,” said Mark Effron, PIX11 VP/News Director.
Carter has received several awards for his work including an Emmy Award and an Associated Press Award for “Best Newscast,” as well as awards for Spot News and Public Affairs. He holds a Bachelors of Arts in English/Communications from LeMoyne College in Syracuse, NY and is currently a candidate for Masters of Science in Mass Communications from Emerson College in Boston, MA.
As part of the station’s restructuring, Amy Waldman has been elevated to Senior Executive Producer, News where she will oversee content for all of PIX11’s newscasts, on all platforms. Waldman joined the station in 2007 and has served in several news management positions during her tenure.
Sharon Van Zwieten will move into a News Talent Project Management role as PIX11 adds staffing and capacity.
