Morgan Kolkmeyer Joins WGN Morning News as Weather Anchor

May 15, 2017 – Morgan Kolkmeyer is joining WGN News as a meteorologist and WGN Morning News weather anchor, weekdays from 4-6am.  Kolkmeyer will join WGN Morning News in late May, according to Jennifer Lyons, WGN-TV news director.  She replaces Demetrius Ivory, who is now meteorologist and weather reporter for WGN Midday News and WGN Evening News at 4pm.

“With the expansion of news at WGN, we’re excited to welcome Morgan to our “must watch” WGN Morning News,” commented Jennifer Lyons, WGN News Director.  “Morgan has a passion for weather and forecasting that will help our morning viewers as they get out the door.”

Before joining WGN-TV, Kolkmeyer was a meteorologist and weather reporter for WREX’s 13 News Today and 13 News at Noon for the past three years.  She previously worked at KQDS-TV in Duluth, Minn as a meteorologist and reporter.

Originally from Rockford, IL, Kolkmeyer graduated from NIU with a BS in Meteorology and a minor in Applied Mathematics.  Morgan’s love for weather began in August 2004 when she was in the eye of Hurricane Charley.  Since then she has gone storm chasing all over the Midwest.
