KFOR Honored With National Edward R. Murrow Award

Oklahoma Station Wins Prestigious National News Award

June 21, 2016 – This morning the Radio Television Digital News Directors’ Association (RTDNA) announced KFOR, NewsChannel 4, Tribune Broadcasting’s Oklahoma City station, is the recipient of a prestigious national Edward R. Murrow Award.  Earlier this year, KFOR, won a regional Murrow for its series “Faces of the Bombing,” Linda Cavanaugh’s multi-part profile of the survivors and family members of victims of the Oklahoma City Bombing.  The regional win in April placed KFOR in the national competition, which resulted in today’s announcement.

“Our station is humbled to be recognized on a national level.  The series was incredibly powerful.  It showed KFOR’s continuing commitment to never forget those affected by the tragedy in Oklahoma City,” said Wes Milbourn, President and General Manager of KFOR and KAUT.

RTDNA has been honoring outstanding achievements in journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971; the awards recognize the best journalism produced by radio, television and online news organizations around the world.

“This particular award, means so much to our staff of committed journalists.  It inspires us to continue telling the compelling story of April 19, 1995,” said Natalie Hughes, KFOR’s News Director. “KFOR dedicates this award to those who were killed, those who survived and those changed forever,” said Hughes.

This October, representatives from the station will travel to New York City to accept the award.
