High Point, NC – June 3, 2019 The most recent Nielsen television sweeps period came to an end last Thursday, and the results show FOX8 WGHP scoring major victories throughout the broadcast day.

Beginning in the mornings, FOX8 won the 5-10am news block in all key demographics.  The FOX8 Morning News ranked #1 with both A25-54 and W25-54 at 6am, 7am, 8am, and 9am.

FOX8 was also the clear choice as the Triad’s most watched early news, winning Households, A25-54, and W25-54 at 4pm, 5pm, and 6:30pm.

And for late night news viewing, FOX8 was once again the top choice for Triad viewers.  The FOX8 10 o’clock News ranked #1 in both households and A25-54, while the FOX8 News at 11pm debuted on May 1st to a strong showing in both households and demos.

“The success of the May ratings period is the culmination of a lot of hard work,” said Jim Himes, FOX8’s President and General Manager. “I’m very proud of our people and humbled that our approach to localism continues to be well received in the Triad.”

FOX8 currently broadcasts 11 hours of locally produced news each weekday, in addition to more than 20 local specials each year.  The station’s website, myFOX8.com, is the state of North Carolina’s most used local news website, while the station’s 945,000+ Facebook fans also tops the state for local television stations.

“People are consuming more news than ever before, and Triad viewers are choosing FOX8.  The success of the May ratings period confirms what we already knew about this market’s choice for local news,” said Kevin Daniels, FOX8 News Director.
