24 Nov FOX31 and Channel 2 Partner With the Salvation Army to Make Christmas Wishes Come True for Colorado Children
Every child deserves to experience the joy of Christmas. Unfortunately, many Colorado families are struggling and the demands of everyday life keep them from being able to put presents under the tree. So FOX31 Denver and Colorado’s Own Channel 2 are partnering with Macy’s and Colorado State University-Global Campus to help Colorado children in need with the Salvation Army Angel Tree.
Angel Trees are Christmas trees decorated with paper angel tags that represent real Colorado children in need. Each angel tag includes the child’s first name, gender, age, clothing size and gift wish.
Angel tags can be found on trees at participating Front Range Macy’s locations and the Denver Center for Performing Arts.
After participants pick an angel from the tree, they simply buy the toy and clothing in the sizes listed on the tag. When the list is fulfilled, new, unwrapped items need to be returned to Macy’s or the Denver Center for Performing Arts by December 13.
Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program has been fulfilling children’s Christmas wishes since the 1970’s. It ensures that every child experiences the magic of Christmas by matching generous donors with Colorado children in greatest need.
Children who receive Angel Tree gifts are from families who have applied for Christmas assistance through the Social Services program of The Salvation Army. Adopting an angel not only gives a child special Christmas memories, it helps ease the burden of a struggling family.
Participating Macy’s locations include: Cherry Creek, Park Meadows, SouthGlenn, Southwest Plaza, Aurora, Northfield, Flatirons and Orchard. There will also be a Salvation Army Angel Tree located at the Denver Center for Performing Arts.
