CBS4 Makes Strong Gains in the Morning, Evening and Wins at Noon in Indianapolis

6AM Newscast Up 25% from Last Year, Evening & Late News Up 17%

March 13, 2017 — The fastest growing News in Indianapolis belongs to Tribune Broadcasting’s CBS4 (WTTV-TV), with strong gains in the morning, the #1 newscast at noon and impressive growth in Evening and Late News.

During the recently completed February sweeps period CBS4 grew its 6AM newscast by 25%, is winning at noon and is a solid #3 at 5PM, 6PM AND 11PM, according to Nielsen.

On January 30th, 2017, CBS4 launched a fresh new morning show weekdays from 5AM-7AM with Frank Mickens who joined WTTV from the CBS affiliate WFMY News 2 in Greensboro/Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and traffic reporter Rachel Bogle, the former co-host of the “Kyle and Rachel Morning Show” on WNOW-FM. They join Meteorologist Lindsay Riley who has been with the morning show since the launch of CBS4 in 2015.

“More people are turning to CBS4 This Morning because we offer a different format than any other station,” commented Kerri Cavanaugh, VP of News. “Viewers are taking notice of our facts before fluff approach and we’re seeing that change in the ratings.”

“Indiana’s Very Own Debby Knox, Bob Donaldson and Chief Meteorologist Chris Wright also lead the fastest growing evening and late news in Indianapolis,” commented Jamie Aitken, CBS4/FOX59 General Manager. “Indy viewers see the difference and we’re thrilled that they are making CBS4 their very own throughout the entire day.”
