November 30, 2016 — Wonderama, the enduring and iconic studio- audience participation show that entertained families for over four decades, marks its triumphant comeback beginning on Saturday, January 7, 2017. Featuring a new look, a new host and an exciting array of guests and segments, Wonderama is poised to deliver a dynamic family entertainment experience that’s fun, exciting, interactive and informative. Slated initially to premiere in early primetime slots in 13 major US metropolitan markets (see below), with multiple brand extensions on key digital platforms, fans everywhere will have the chance to experience the wonder of Wonderama on every screen.

Hosted by David Osmond, member of one of the world’s most celebrated entertainment families, the new Wonderama combines the best elements of the original – games, celebrities, music, prizes and an interactive studio audience. Fans tuning in may recall the popular “Snake in a Can” game alongside new show elements including “Wonder-mojis,” “Cool Science” and “DJ Dance Emergency” featuring DJs Coco and Breezy, whose energetic style and cutting-edge playlists further lend to the show’s upbeat atmosphere. Each one-hour installment combines the things today’s families are passionate about: art; music, dance, film, sports, science, cooking and politics.

Celebrities appearing in the new season include Dancing With The Stars’ Tony Dovolani, legendary boxing champion Evander Holyfield, YouTube sensation Alex B, country music star Michael Ray and many others.

Produced by Chuck Armstrong and an Emmy Award-winning team, Wonderama is syndicated nationally and will air across Tribune Broadcasting’s owned or operated stations in 13 US markets.

“Today’s families are hungry for entertainment choices they can enjoy together, making now the perfect time to bring back Wonderama,” explains Chuck Armstrong, CEO of Wonderama Holdings, LLC. “The new Wonderama combines the key elements of the original with new content that’s fun and informative, all while instilling feelings of empowerment and confidence in our fans.”

The original Wonderama (and its successor, Kids Are People Too) remains one of the longest-running family television programs in history. The show gave America its first broadcast glimpse of The Jackson 5, hosted Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier’s famous Marble Battle and introduced families across the nation to wonders big and small, from music sensations like Elton John, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Abba and Roger Daltry to world-class celebrities including Evel Knievel, Billy Crystal, Jodie Foster, Jerry Lewis, David Cassidy and Soupy Sales.
